Why Cleveland Will Win The East–AGAIN (Opinion)

The Cleveland Cavaliers have gone from being one of the worst teams in the league four years ago to the current defending NBA Champions.

You can thank LeBron James for that, the best basketball player in the league, for returning home and securing the first ever title for the Cavaliers.

This season, however, Cleveland has struggled to maintain their number one seed in the Eastern Conference. They currently are tied for first place with the surging Boston Celtics as Washington is 2.5 games back.

There has been lots of discussion and debate over the recent months if Cleveland has enough to return to the NBA Finals and win the Eastern Conference. This year, the East has better competition to year’s past. The Wizards and Celtics are no joke and shouldn’t be taken lightly in the playoffs. The play of John Wall and Isaiah Thomas have put those teams in position to make a run. They’re both young teams with loads of talent who will be tough competition for years to follow.

But let me put this on record now. The Cleveland Cavaliers will win the Eastern Conference and there is zero doubt in my mind that it won’t happen. I’m not a betting man, but if I had $1,000,000 dollars to spend, I’d put it all in on Cleveland.

Here’s why: LeBron James, LeBron James, and LeBron James. He’s the best player in the league right now and has been to FIVE consecutive NBA Finals. That can only tell you one thing and that is he knows how to win in the postseason. Like him or not, LeBron gets the job done. He understands how to get the most out of his teammates and coaches at the most crucial time. His stats prove it as last year he averaged 26 points per game and was able to get Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love to play their best basketball.

At the end of the day, nobody in the East can stop LeBron. He hasn’t lost an Eastern Conference Series since 2010. It doesn’t matter what seed they finish with in the regular season, they will roll when it’s crunch time.
